On a recent trip to Georgia, I found myself unexpectedly near some water. Luckily, I had brought my Tenkara just in case such an opportunity did arise. Unfortunately, I only packed my dry box and forgot my wet flies at home. Given the conditions, only wet would do.
Before I continue, I must say that I realize fully that the tragedy you are about to read is one completely of my own making.
In a desperate situation, I popped into a Cabella’s and scoured for some wet flies. In the chaos, I grabbed some bead heads, a few eggs… and … a little box of cannon’s worm red. I knew full well that none of these flies would be anything special. You get what you pay for and I didn’t pay much. That all said, the cannon’s worm red is the worst fly I’ve ever encountered.
- Even drenched with water, it still managed to stay afloat.
- The red dye drained from it, staining my hands and releasing god knows what into the water.
Even if you’re desperate, don’t buy cannon’s worm red.
